Marvel’s Wolverine is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on September 15, but parts of the finished game are already circulating online after what appears to be an early physical copy reached a player.
Reports say gameplay from a retail PS5 disc was livestreamed across platforms before takedowns began. The material reportedly included mechanics and substantial story content, turning ordinary social feeds into a spoiler risk well before launch day.
The situation escalated further as clips spread beyond the original streams. Kotaku reported that footage from boss fights, unlockables and even the game’s final moments and credits had appeared online.
That makes this leak different from a rumor built around screenshots or second-hand claims. The material being discussed is said to come from a completed or near-final retail build, while Sony’s own store and PlayStation pages still list September 15 as the official release date.
For Insomniac, the timing is particularly rough. Marvel’s Wolverine was already hit by a major ransomware leak in 2023 that exposed development material. This latest wave arrives at the opposite end of production, when the studio should be focused on launch rather than containing spoilers.
Players who want the story intact may need to mute Wolverine-related terms and be careful with recommendation-heavy feeds until release. With physical copies apparently already outside normal retail timing, takedowns are unlikely to erase every repost before September 15.
