Accuracy matters more than preserving a mistake. Readers should be able to understand when a story materially changed and why.
How corrections work
When a material factual error is confirmed, TRENDWIRE corrects the inaccurate information promptly. Significant post-publication changes receive a visible Updated timestamp, and additional correction context may be added when the nature of the mistake requires it.
Updates are different
Breaking stories naturally develop. Adding newly confirmed information, a release date, a response or other later development is an update rather than a correction unless the earlier version contained a factual error.
What we review
Names, dates, quotations, numerical claims, platform details, attribution and other verifiable facts can all be correction issues. Differences of opinion or interpretation are not factual corrections by themselves.
