The farewell was emotional. Grande thanked the London crowd while fighting back tears, describing the 41-show tour as one of the most beautiful and extraordinary experiences of her life. The run stretched across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom before ending with 10 shows in London.
Her break is not a sudden decision. Grande previously told fans that stepping back was something she had planned quietly for some time, pushing back on speculation that she was reacting impulsively to online criticism. Her representative has said the singer wanted a break from public-facing work after prolonged scrutiny surrounding her appearance and health.
There has already been one major career change. Grande withdrew from the planned West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George, where she had been expected to reunite with Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey. Bailey subsequently announced his own exit from the production.
But fans should not interpret the break as a total disappearance. PEOPLE reported this week that Grande remains committed to promoting Focker-in-Law, the upcoming Meet the Parents sequel starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. The film is scheduled to open November 25, and a source said Grande is very proud of the project.
That makes the shape of her hiatus clearer: fewer public appearances and a deliberate retreat from constant visibility, rather than an immediate shutdown of every professional commitment already on her calendar.
