Star Trek turns 60 today, September 8, 2026. The original series debuted on September 8, 1966, and Paramount is marking the anniversary with a full day of events, screenings and fan celebrations around the world.
One of the biggest anniversary moments is a global Vulcan salute campaign that ends with an official Guinness World Records attempt in London. Star Trek is also tying the celebration to London's Science Museum and a special event in Los Angeles.
In Los Angeles, fans can attend an outdoor screening of The Original Series premiere episode, The Man Trap, followed by an advance screening of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4, Episode 8. The event is being held at the Autry Museum of the American West.
Movie theaters are part of the celebration too. Paramount says newly restored Star Trek films are being shown in more than 750 U.S. theaters, with a Star Trek Day marathon scheduled for September 8.
The anniversary also reaches regular television. CBS is airing Star Trek-themed episodes of The Price Is Right and Let's Make a Deal, while Entertainment Tonight is joining the wider 60th anniversary programming.
The celebration goes beyond Earth as well. European Space Agency astronaut Sophie Adenot is set to mark Star Trek Day from the International Space Station while wearing a Captain's Delta badge previously used in Strange New Worlds.
Star Trek's official 60th anniversary hub is also collecting the yearlong celebrations, partnerships and fan activities in one place. For a franchise built around the idea of looking forward, the 60th anniversary is being treated less like a single birthday and more like a worldwide Star Trek Day.
