Netflix’s Monster anthology is turning to one of America’s most infamous murder cases. Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story arrives on September 17, 2026, with Ella Beatty playing Borden.
The season centers on the 1892 axe murders of Andrew and Abby Borden. Charlie Hunnam and Rebecca Hall play Lizzie’s parents, while Vicky Krieps appears as Bridget “Maggie” Sullivan.
The trailer leans into the series’ fictionalized interpretation rather than presenting itself as a documentary. Netflix notes that Borden was acquitted, and Beatty has described her performance as translating historical source material into the version of Lizzie created for the show.
Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan continue as the creative force behind Monster, which has previously dramatized other high-profile true-crime cases. The new season again blends documented history with dramatized character work.
Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story premieres globally on Netflix on September 17.
