Lionel Richie is back home after a three-day hospital stay that sparked concern among fans following his weekend performance in St. Louis.
People reported Wednesday that the 77-year-old singer had returned home to Los Angeles and was “doing great.” ABC News separately confirmed that Richie was home and on the mend after checking himself into a hospital out of an abundance of caution.
The reassuring update comes after Richie performed at The Muny in St. Louis on August 29. During the closing stretch of the show, he asked his team to bring him a chair and finished “All Night Long” while seated before later seeking medical attention.
The hospitalization attracted extra attention because it was Richie’s second notable health scare on tour this summer. In June, he experienced dizziness during a concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, sat down onstage and ultimately ended the show early. Two subsequent dates were postponed while he recovered.
This time, Richie reportedly spent three days in the hospital and underwent precautionary testing before heading home. The latest reports are considerably more encouraging than the initial headlines surrounding his admission.
There is also a natural question for fans now: when will Lionel be back onstage? His next scheduled concert is September 26 in San Francisco, followed by additional performances and his planned King of Hearts dates at the Wynn in Las Vegas later this year.
For now, the biggest update is the one fans wanted to hear. Richie is out of the hospital, back home and reportedly doing well after another worrying moment during an already eventful tour.
