Sony’s next State of Play arrives Thursday, September 3, with two broadcasts airing back-to-back. The main PlayStation showcase starts at 6:00 a.m. PT / 9:00 a.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. CEST, followed immediately by a separate State of Play Japan presentation focused on creators from Japan and across Asia.
For viewers in Sri Lanka and India, the show starts at 6:30 p.m. on September 3. In the UK it begins at 2:00 p.m. BST, while viewers in Japan can tune in at 10:00 p.m. JST. Sony will stream both presentations on its official YouTube and Twitch channels.
PlayStation has confirmed that the first State of Play will include updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. Sony has not published a complete game list, so any wider lineup circulating before the broadcast should still be treated as speculation.
The one major game Sony has named is Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Square Enix’s upcoming title will close the main State of Play with an extended look at its world, making it the only specific game currently guaranteed a substantial segment in the global broadcast.
Immediately afterward, State of Play Japan returns with voice actor Yuki Kaji as host. Sony says this second presentation will feature deeper dives into upcoming games from studios in Japan and Asia, including new gameplay, announcements and additional information.
The language setup is different for each stream. The main State of Play will be presented in English with Japanese subtitles. State of Play Japan will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles, so international viewers can follow both parts of the event.
Sony has also warned creators planning to co-stream or archive the presentation that licensed music may appear during the broadcast. That can create copyright issues for saved VODs or reposted clips even though PlayStation welcomes co-streaming, so creators may want to remove licensed music from archived versions.
The timing makes this an important showcase for PlayStation’s September schedule. With Sony promising both first-party and third-party updates while reserving the closing segment for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, the safest expectation is a focused update show rather than assuming every rumored PS5 project will appear.
