After 12 years of deadpan flirting, uncomfortable silences and celebrity guests eating fried chicken, Amelia Dimoldenberg is bringing Chicken Shop Date to an end.

Why it mattersOne of YouTube's most recognizable interview formats is preparing its goodbye after more than a decade of awkward celebrity dates.

Dimoldenberg announced on September 3 that she is ready to move on from the series that turned a deliberately awkward interview idea into one of the internet's most recognizable entertainment formats. The goodbye is not immediate: she says a few final dates are still coming.

Chicken Shop Date began as an idea Dimoldenberg developed as a teenager before becoming a YouTube series in 2014. Its simple setup became the joke: famous guests would meet her inside a chicken shop for an interview framed as a date, while Dimoldenberg leaned into pauses, blunt questions and intentionally strange chemistry.

The guest list eventually stretched across music, film, sport and internet culture, including Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney, Jennifer Lawrence, Sabrina Carpenter and Andrew Garfield. The format also helped Dimoldenberg build a career beyond YouTube, including major red-carpet work.

The timing makes the ending feel less like a cancellation and more like a creator deliberately closing a chapter. Dimoldenberg has said the show will remain part of her, but that she wants to move toward a new adventure.

There is no exact date yet for the final episode. For now, the series is entering its last run with several more Chicken Shop Dates promised before the sign-off.
