One creator is testing a surprisingly radical idea for modern social media: posting to nearly a million followers without letting anyone argue underneath it.
Australian influencer Spanian has switched off comment sections across his social media posts, telling followers that the constant cycle of arguments, hate and reaction is one of the biggest sources of what he calls social-media brain rot.
In a video explaining the move, Spanian said people should be able to watch a post, decide whether they like it and move on without being pulled into endless fights with strangers.
The decision stands out because comments are normally treated as essential creator currency. They boost engagement, keep audiences on posts longer and often help content travel further through recommendation systems.
But the same feature can also turn every post into a public debate, regardless of whether the creator actually wants one. That tension has become a central part of internet culture as creators increasingly talk about burnout and harassment.
Spanian says the change is not tied to a specific controversy. Instead, he is framing it as an experiment in making his feeds less hostile and less dependent on other peoples reactions.
