Creators who earn money on X are days away from a major change. The platform says its Creator Revenue Sharing program will be retired on September 7, 2026, with the new Original Content Rewards system beginning its rollout immediately afterward.

Why it mattersX is about to switch creator monetization systems, with its old revenue-sharing program ending September 7 and a new originality-focused model following.

Existing Revenue Sharing members can continue earning through September 7. X says a final payout for earnings through that date is expected around September 11, after two earlier August payouts.

Starting September 8, existing Revenue Sharing members will begin getting access to apply for Original Content Rewards. The new program is explicitly built around original, high-quality work, covering formats including posts, Articles, video and images.

X says payouts under the replacement program are based on qualified impressions generated by original content and are issued every two weeks while an account and its posts continue to meet the requirements.

The shift matters because creator platforms have spent years rewarding raw engagement, sometimes creating incentives for reposting, aggregation and outrage. X is now putting originality directly into the name and eligibility language of its monetization product.

For creators already earning on X, the immediate dates are the important part: Revenue Sharing ends September 7, applications for the replacement begin rolling out September 8, and the final old-program payout is expected around September 11.
